The idea for our company was imagined in a small town in central New York on an April afternoon. After a few phone calls and conversations, we decided to go all in! Within one year we quickly grew to an international team brought together by the quest for innovation, the appeal of positive energy, and the passion to make dreams come true.
At MRAQCS,we value each partner and team member for the unique qualities they bring to our team. We come from diverse educational and professional backgrounds including accounting, small business, big business, mental health care, technology, education, medicine, public service, and marketing. Our Team is strong because of our commitments to each other and our underlying ideals that remind us we are a family business.
Ann Canastra, Founder & President
Our founder and President of MRAQCS is Ann Canastra, and she is the driving force behind the passion. Originally from Perry, Michigan, she earned her bachelors degree from Central Michigan University and went on to achieve two master’s degrees from Syracuse University. She has spent over a decade serving the United States Government as a mental health counselor as well as successfully owning and running a small business. Ann also volunteers for a number of local organizations and is currently a PTO President for one of her children’s schools, and on the Board of Directors for a local non-profit, NAMI Syracuse. People often ask Ann, “How do you do it all?” And her response is usually close to, “I just love it. I love this life.” And she smiles as she moves on to the next thing on her list… Ann has been married for over ten years and is the proud mother of twins + 1, who drive her each day to make this world a better, stronger, more connected and good place.
Steve Haak, VP UX & Strategy
Steve is a seasoned program, project and product management professional with over 15 years of experience in web-based technology, marketing and entrepreneurism. He has held numerous management roles leading multi-discipline, geographically-dispersed teams in designing and developing digital experiences and strategies to support new product launches and marketing campaigns for Fortune 100 brands across multiple verticals. Steve built his very first computer in 1979. He has ridden the tech wave and continues to love heading to work every morning. Steve envisions the future with integrated tech, user-friendly experiences, and most of all a place that unites us all as our World has become much more connected since 1979. Steve loves the outdoors and you will often find him with a kayak, a bike, a canoe or on any number of outdoor adventures with friends and family. He also enjoys being a self-identified “gamer” and plays most mediums. He likes to explain that he is a “nerd at heart,” a “gamer,” and he was such long before it was “cool and hip.”
Kyle Romain, VP Project Management
Kyle is an experienced technologist who works with clients on both the business and technology sides of information systems. A graduate from Western Washington University and the University of Washington, he has worked at multiple Seattle-based companies, managing several web and mobile-based projects that span product areas, teams, and countries. In addition, Kyle has maintained and operated a local tech support and computer repair shop for over 5 years. Kyle is an avid musician and can often be found performing at one of Seattle’s many music venues. If you cannot find him behind a computer or performing, he will likely be snowboarding on one of the many scenic local mountain ranges.
Paul Schumacher, VP Operations
Paul brings over 10 years of operations management to our team after achieving management assignments at two national retailers, one being a leader in the tech industry. He is a recent accounting graduate from Bryant & Stratton College. Paul appreciates a harmony in life and can relate to those of us who balance full time work, full time school, and the responsibilities of being a parent. He uses his desire to grow, learn, and progress to achieve business success. Paul enjoys cooking his family recipe BBQ that often takes him an entire day get just right. He is also an unofficial beer officianato and has toured parts of the US visiting breweries and always coming home to his all-time favorite, “Dark Horse Amber.”
Matthew Charles Byrnes, Board Member
Matt is originally from Saint James Long Island. He started working in his family owned union flooring business at the age of 13 in New York City and worked his way up to partner at the age of 19 where he was responsible for over 100 workers. In 1989 his father passed away and Matthew continued to build the company. In 1999 Matt sold the company and then proceeded to own and manage several highly successful companies throughout the US, and employ hundreds of workers. Matt is proud to say that he and his current business partner work to support Veterans, our nations heroes. He holds several certificates in marketing and sales along with a plethora of medical equipment certificates. Matthew does a lot of charity work and truly enjoys helping others.
Christian Le Brun, Board Member
Christian has spent many successful years in business development, high level management and project direction in a wide variety of fields. These include international dental manufacturing, medicinal practice development, software management, and musical recording. Through his talents and foresight he has emerged as one of the premier systems management consultants with clients all over the globe. In addition to many work ventures, Christian currently sits on the board directors for multiple organizations ranging from large national companies to local not for profits like the Auburn Chamber Orchestra, where he is currently Vice President of the Board. On rare occasions when Christian has free time, he likes to spend it in his recording studio writing and playing music, or in the wilderness on long hiking and rafting trips.
